Many Texans today are without Health Insurance. It may be because they can not afford it, or they feel they do not need it. Yet, everyone will come to a point where it will be a necessity. The only question that needs answered is, "Do you want to pay for it now, at a cheaper rate, while you are healthy, or wait until you are diagnosed with an illness and either pay an extremely higher rate, or not be able to get it altogether because its now a preexisting illness?"

In this troubling economy I know how hard it is to balance your finances on what is a necessity now and what is felt could be put off till later. You never know when a medical emergency will hit close to home. And if you have children that chance increases. From immunizations to accidents around the home kids need insurance as much as, if not more, than adults. As a father of four I understand the situations kids get into. Ive been to the ER, with and without insurance, from such problems as a possible broken arm to stitches on a cut hand. From experience I would prefer having some form of insurance.

Today insurance comes in many forms. From a Low deductible plan to a High deductible plan. Both have the same coverages, the only difference is how much you pay out of pocket before the insurance applies. A lower deductible has fewer dollars being paid at the beginning. The lower the deductible, however, the higher the premium. Most families nowadays go with a higher deductible to help lower the monthly premium. To help with the initial costs of a High Deductible Health Plan there are Health Savings Accounts (HSA's). These are specialized accounts that you would make a regular deposit into to use for medical purposes such as doctor visits and Prescriptions.
